23.5 million investment to increase Hamilton airport capacity

Today, Minister of Transportation, the Honourable Omar Alghabra, and Minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario Filomena Tassi, announced an investment of up to nearly $23.5 million from the National Trade Corridors Fund for an expansion and sustainability project at John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport.

This airport is a vital link in our supply chain, which is why I am pleased to announce that our government will be investing nearly $23.5 million in Hamilton's John C. Munro International Airport. This project, which will cost nearly $47 million, will allow the airport to handle and increase cargo operations, improve and expand airfield capacity, increase de-icing capacity and build a new independent roadway to reduce congestion. It will also create new permanent jobs for Canadians in the region.

According to the transport minister, this investment will have important economic benefits for the region, such as reducing supply chain congestion and facilitating the movement of goods.
