Baggage chaos at Toronto Pearson continues

As the holiday season draws to a close many people are still waiting to be reunited with their luggage.

The glut of lost and misplaced bags clogging baggage claim areas at Toronto Pearson International Airport, among other hubs in North America is now in its second week.

Despite airline assurances that staff are working around the clock, anxious travelers have had to wait hours, if not days to see their bags again. However, there is also plenty of luggage waiting: on Tuesday, much of the space around Pearson's baggage carousels was still occupied by bags, strollers and suitcases.

Air Canada said that despite the problems, it had managed to operate about 17,000 successful flights since mid-December. Sunwing said the airline was doing everything it could to reunite people with their belongings. WestJet apologized and thanked travelers for their patience.
