A problem with U.S. flight systems caused headaches for travelers at Pearson this morning.
The departure board at Pearson was showing a series of delays early Wednesday after a computer glitch around 7 a.m. today sent an erroneous order to all aircraft in the U.S.
Greater Toronto Airports Authority spokeswoman Tori Gass said passengers should check the status of their flights before heading to the airport. She said passengers may experience delays in their travel between the U.S. and Canada due to the problems.
Also, Transport Minister Omar Alghabra referred to the incident that caused flight delays and cancellations in Canada as a cascading effect of the U.S. failure.
This was obviously a surprise, an unplanned outage, we don't know all the details yet, the good news is that traffic is being restored again. We will stay in coordination with our partners in the US to understand what happened and what we can do to avoid similar disruptions in the future.
