GTA could receive another 10 cm of snow this weekend

The wintry weather has no plans to let up after the first big winter storm of the year in the GTA.

More snow is expected this weekend before temperatures plummet and things get much colder next week.

Meteorologist Jill Taylor, expressed that an additional 10 centimeters is possible starting Saturday night.

"The snow we're going to have to shovel is late Saturday night," she says. "I guess the good thing about it is that it will come over the weekend and it won't be as impactful as the snow we just had."

We could see some flurries on Friday, but the heaviest snow is expected to start overnight Saturday night into Sunday morning. Five inches is possible in the morning with another three to seven inches possible Sunday during the morning hours.

Then temperatures will plummet next week.

"On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, we'll be dealing with a wind chill closer to -20," Taylor said.

Monday will see a morning low of -10 C and a high near -5 C. On Tuesday, a morning low near -11 C with a daytime high of -6 C is expected.

The storm that just hit left about 10 centimeters of snow in the City of Toronto with up to 25 centimeters in some areas of the GTA. It caused several traffic and transit disruptions and several flight cancellations at Pearson Airport on Wednesday.
