The Director of Program of the Office of Investigations of the United States Department of Homeland Security, Michael Renaud, stated on Thursday during an event organized by the Organization of American States (OAS) that "Venezuela is a narco-state" capable of mobilizing planes with tons of cocaine in clandestine flights.
"Until I arrived in Washington, I didn't know there were illicit flights coming from Venezuela. Then they go to Guyana and Suriname.
Venezuela can mobilize tons of cocaine. Imagine what they can do with gold.
It is a narco-state, and somehow they must launder the money in stable economies," Renaud said during a forum on human trafficking and sexual exploitation.
