Interim Mayor Jennifer McKelvie of Toronto spoke today on her last day in office, following her unexpected assumption of the position in February after John Tory's abrupt resignation.
In her final speech, McKelvie highlighted the achievements accomplished during her four months as mayor, such as securing $235 million in provincial funding to cover part of the deficit left by Covid-19 and expanding the exclusion zone to allow for 2, 3, and 4 dwellings per building in all neighborhoods of Toronto.
She also mentioned the transition process and stated that she has held several meetings with Mayor-elect Olivia Chow, who assumes office tomorrow, and wished her all the best.
That's how Jennifer McKelvie bid farewell as the head of Toronto's mayoralty.
