The Copa América 2024 will be played in the United States and will have the novelty that six countries belonging to Concacaf will participate. This modification was announced by CONMEBOL, which clarified that the tournament will be held during the "summer of 2024" in the northern hemisphere and that it will have the ten members of that organization to which will be added the "six best CONCACAF teams, as guests".
The six Concacaf teams that will play in South America's most important national team championship will qualify through the Concacaf Nations League 2023/24.
This "strategic agreement" also contemplates the invitation of women's teams to the CONCACAF competition, but an outstanding feature is that "there will be a new club tournament".
The women's branch of the competition will have as a novelty that the four best Conmebol countries will be in the Concacaf W 2024 Gold Cup, which will also be held in the United States. Brazil, Colombia, Argentina and Paraguay will be the representatives of this side of the continent in that edition as a result of the results they obtained in the Women's 2022 Copa América, which ended with the Brazilians as champions.
Finally, both federations are preparing to organize a new club tournament with the "final four style" that will feature the best teams. "The four teams (two from each confederation) participating will qualify through existing Conmebol and Concacaf club competitions and the two confederations are working for the first edition of this tournament to be played in 2024″, they detailed about the championship that will be born.
