The Texas gunman in the Walmart shooting receives 90 consecutive life sentences.

A white man who killed 23 people in a racist attack targeting Hispanic shoppers at a Walmart in a Texas border city was sentenced on Friday to 90 consecutive life sentences, but he may still face further punishments, including the death penalty.

Patrick Crusius, a 24-year-old, pleaded guilty earlier this year to nearly 50 federal hate crime charges in the 2019 mass shooting in El Paso, making it one of the largest hate crime cases in the U.S. government's history.

During the hearing, Crusius did not speak and showed no reaction when the verdict was read. Federal District Judge David Guaderrama recommended that Crusius serve his sentence in a maximum-security prison in Colorado.
