Video of the arrest of 3 armed robbers breaking into a Scotiabank



Helicopter video captured the dramatic moment three people entered a Scotiabank east of Toronto during an alleged armed robbery before being surrounded by police as they tried to escape.


In a news release Friday, York police allege four suspects used a stolen car in a series of armed robberies in York, Durham, Peel and Halton regions in January.


On Jan. 20, York police said they were called to a currency exchange store located in Richmond Hill for an armed robbery.


Police said two suspects, allegedly armed, attempted to enter as the victim was entering the store. The victim escaped and the two suspects allegedly fled in a dark-colored Mazda.


According to police, their helicopter located the suspect vehicle a short time later on Highway 407 driving in Durham Region.


Members of the emergency response, canine and robbery units located the suspects as they allegedly attempted an armed robbery at Scotiabank in the area of Victoria Street West and Gordon Street in Whitby, police said.


The helicopter video shows a car parked outside the bank before three people exited and entered the bank. The driver of the car does not exit the vehicle.


The video then shows three people running away from the bank before they are finally arrested by police.


Those arrested are 4 young men between the ages of 15 and 21. A 21-year-old man of no fixed address, a 20-year-old man from Stoney Creek, a 16-year-old man from Brampton and a 15-year-old man from Toronto now face a combined 46 felony. charges, including armed robbery.
